Coast Guard ensures overall security of coastal and riverside puja mandap including Cox’s Bazar
The Coast Guard has increased patrols and intelligence surveillance on the occasion of the autumn Durga Puja, Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq told reporters.
He said that since its establishment, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has been playing an important role in maintaining overall law and order in the coastal areas including Cox’s Bazar, providing security to followers of various religions, protecting religious places of worship, important establishments and the lives and property of the general public.
In continuation of this, under the instructions of the Bangladesh government, the Coast Guard has been working on the overall security of religious places of worship and puja mandap on the occasion of the autumn Durga Puja, a festival of Hindus living in the coastal areas.
Coast Guard East Zone is engaged in the overall security of 56 puja mandap in coastal and riverine areas.
Bangladesh Coast Guard East Zone is ready to protect people’s lives and property and places of worship from any kind of sabotage during Durga Puja and to deal with any kind of unpleasant situation.
In addition, special patrol teams have been deployed in their assigned areas to facilitate the movement of devotees coming to the puja mandap.
In addition, coordination with other law enforcement agencies is being done to ensure the safety of the people during the puja and to avoid any kind of accident, said the Coast Guard, East Zone authorities.
To avoid accidents during the immersion of idols, the Coast Guard, East Zone is continuing public awareness campaigns (micking) on not carrying passengers in excess of the capacity of the boat, using life jackets while on the boat, and not taking people who cannot swim into the boat.
The press release also confirmed that the Coast Guard’s diving team and medical team are always ready to deal with any untoward incident like drowning and provide post-rescue treatment.
