Joint operation of Coast Guard-Navy in Teknaf rescues 66 people, including women and children
The Bangladesh Coast Guard and Navy have rescued 66 people, including women and children, from the hideout of human traffickers in the deep hills of Teknaf Baharchhara, Cox’s Bazar. Based on intelligence information, it is known that organized traffickers had kept a large number of people captive on the top of the hill for the purpose of trafficking to Malaysia. Based on this information, the Coast Guard and Navy conducted a joint operation on Thursday (September 18, 2025) from 6 pm to 10 pm. A total of 66 people, including women and children, who were captive for the purpose of trafficking were rescued in the operation. The rescued people said that the traffickers brought them to the hideout in the hills from different places in Teknaf by luring them with high-paying jobs, good employment, and a better life. Later, they planned to send them to Malaysia by boat from the Marine Drive coast at a convenient time. At the same time, the traffickers were trying to extort ransom by torturing the prisoners. However, the traffickers fled after sensing the presence of the joint forces. No one could be arrested. Intelligence surveillance and operations by the Navy and Coast Guard are continuing to arrest the traffickers. The Bangladesh Navy and Coast Guard have said that such operations will continue in the future to prevent human trafficking.
