The sea has become quite rough due to the influence of a low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. Because of this, all the fishing trawlers at sea have returned and taken safe shelter in various rivers along the coast. The Meteorological Office has issued local warning signal number three for Payra Seaport. Although it has been scorching hot along the coast since the morning on Sunday (August 17), intermittent drizzles have started in some areas since the afternoon, accompanied by cool breezes. The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall from August 21 to August 24. Due to the rough seas, fishing trawlers in the deep sea quickly returned to shore. In addition, boats and ships have been asked to remain in safe shelters until further notice. Local fishermen said that they returned to the pier without taking any risks as the sea suddenly became rough. Hundreds of trawlers have anchored in the Khaprabhanga River at the Mahipur and Alipur fisheries ports. Alipur Fisheries Owners Association President Jalil Gharami said that the sea has swelled due to the effect of low pressure created in the sea.
Unable to withstand the strong waves, fishermen have come to the pier. Mahbuba Sukhi, officer-in-charge of Patuakhali District Meteorological Office, said the sea is quite rough due to the low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal. Warning signal number three has been issued for Payra Seaport. Gusty winds of 40 to 50 kmph are likely along the coast. Moderate rainfall will continue. The local administration has advised people along the coast to be cautious. At the same time, orders have been issued to completely ban the movement of small boats and trawlers on rivers and sea routes.
