Boro crops planting is going on in Howar of Sunamganj

Farmers are spending busy time planting Boro crops seedlings in Sunamganj’s Haure. Boro plantations are flourishing in every haor of the district. Farmers are going down to the crop fields with their waists tied at dawn. On a foggy winter morning, the cultivation of the land is going on in full swing, along with tending the rice seedlings in the seedbed. In some fields, rice seedlings are being picked up from seed beds to plant boro rice. Farmers are working day and night to plant the dream crop. They have no time to catch their breath.
Sunamganj district is known as one-crop Boro crops area. At least 90% of the people of this district are dependent on Boro paddy. From the month of Kartik, Agrahayan, the farmers begin to arrange the seedbeds, sow the seeds and gradually plant the rice seedlings. From the beginning of Poush, the farmers became very busy in planting Boro crops.
According to the sources of the District Agriculture Extension Directorate, this year the target of Boro crops cultivation has been set at 2 lakh 23 thousand 410 hectares of land. From which there is a target of 9 lakh 18 thousand metric tons of rice production. Farmer Liton Miah of Chapati Haorpar in Dirai said, ‘This time I am going to plant two and a half hals (one hal in 12 kedars) of Boro land of high yielding paddy, almost half of it has been planted. Paddy planting will be completed in this month. Now, tilling water, planting all the land has to be done with cash money. Due to which a lot of money is spent. I got good paddy last year, although the weather is good, I am hoping to grow good paddy this year as well. Siraj Miah, a farmer of Haor Par in Biswambharpur district, said, “Now we are planting five hals (1 hal in 12 kedars). Almost half has been planted. It will take another 10 to 15 days to complete the purapur. There is a shortage of laborGot a good crop last year. I am planting paddy with this hope. ”
After talking to several other farmers, they said that last year, due to favorable weather conditions, all crops yielded as expected. If the weather is good and there are no natural hazards, we get a lot of profit apart from the cost of planting boradhan. We can support the family. Bimal Chandra Som, Deputy Director of Sunamganj Agricultural Extension Department said, “Howre boro sapling planting program is going on. We are advising and supporting the farmers from their side.”
