Police has sent the body of Bangladeshi worker Rubel Mia (19) who died in a coal mine collapse in India to the morgue.

Syed Iftekhar Hossain, OC of Tahirpur police station of Sunamganj, confirmed this information on Wednesday and said that the body was sent to the district headquarters hospital mortuary on Tuesday afternoon after a report was made at the house of the deceased.

On Tuesday afternoon, the father of the deceased laborer filed a wrongful death case at the police station as the plaintiff. Earlier that day at around 10:30 a.m., the other workers who were with them during coal mining in India secretly retrieved the dead worker’s body from the quarry and brought it inside Bangladesh.

Incidentally, on Tuesday, people of several villages on the border of the upazila said that 28-Border Guard Battalion Bangladesh (BGB) crossed Main Pillar 1200 of the Bangladesh-India border under the control of BGB Tekerghat company headquarters in Tahirpur, Sunamganj, like every day, on Tuesday morning, 60 to 70 workers from several villages were behind Burungachhara village. to illegally enter India through smuggling to bring coal consignments across the country. Then the workers died in Rubel Quarry when the coal mine collapsed while extracting coal from a bottomless quarry in Kala Pahar in Meghalaya, India. A few other workers were injured. Another worker named Amjad Ali (21) of the same area was seriously injured in the quarry collapse and is secretly undergoing treatment at a hospital in Sylhet.

Several people from Tahirpur border village have provided such information that for the last one and a half years, Tekerghat of BGB, Tekerghat of BOP, Chanpur of Chanpur BOP along with Burunga border, Rajni Line, Nayachra, Lakma of Baliaghat BOP, Lalghat, Charagaon BOP Lalghat Paschimpara, Banshtala, Charagaon, Day and night along several border routes including Kalagaon, Jangalbari, workers are bringing coal consignments through smuggling from India. Then those coals are bought by the people in the syndicate and stored in different coal depots of Barachara, Charagaon customs station and nearby village homesteads and sold elsewhere by sea as customs evasion (Bangla coal).
