A drug dealer in Sylhet was sentenced to life imprisonment

An accused named Yashin Ali has been sentenced to life imprisonment in a drug case. Along with that, the verdict imposed a fine of 20 thousand taka, in default of payment, another 3 months imprisonment without labor.

Judge Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan of Sylhet Additional District and Sessions Judge 3rd Court announced the verdict on Monday (October 3). The bench assistant of the court said. Anwarul Haque confirmed this.

Convicted Yachin Ali (43) is the son of deceased Ekhlaz Ali of Pirojpur village of Jakiganj upazila in Sylhet. The accused was absent from the courtroom during the pronouncement of the verdict.

Citing the case, the court source said, on August 23, 2017, Sylhet District Detective Police (DB) arrested Yachin Ali along with 25 bottles of Indian Phencidil. SI in this incident. Moktar Ali became the plaintiff and filed a case (No-14(8)17) under Narcotics Act at Sylhet’s Golapganj police station accusing Yachin and his accomplice Matshir Ali (32) son of Raich Ali of Basantpur village of Sunamganj’s Chatak upazila.

After the investigation, on October 2 of that year, the Deputy Inspector (SI) of the District Intelligence Branch, Jaba Rani Deb, filed a chargesheet (Chargesheet-No-138) in the court accusing only Yashin Ali. The trial of this case started in the court from September 10, 2018. After hearing the testimony of six witnesses during the long hearing, the verdict was given against the accused.
