Exhibitions and dialogues on preservation of endangered items in local rural heritage

From ancient times, various traditional materials were used for various purposes in the sub-regions. Which was the holder and bearer of rural tradition. They are now on the verge of extinction due to salinity in subtropical areas, natural calamities and expanding use of modern products. Exhibitions and dialogues have been held to preserve, sustain and increase the use of these endangered traditional products and agricultural materials in the coastal rural heritage.
On Monday (October 28) at 3 o’clock in the evening at Paschim Jelekhali village of Munshiganj Union of Shyamnagar Upazila, the local community, Sundarban Student Solidarity Team, green solidarity and private development research institute Barsik organized the exhibition divided into 20 stalls. Collected and displayed.
Among the exhibits were plough, yoke, lati, thusi, ladder, pakhi, nirani, da, axe, bati, kashi, hamandista, shil, nora, polo, basket, bazara, khara, hukko, sabal, dol, chingari, mud field. , pitchers, various brass implements, hurricanes, team, jhati, nets of various kinds, puja articles, sickles, chhat, haso, dora, jute sacks, chalan, kulo, kalke, bowls, earthen pitchers, kasar items, covers, scales, bichli. About thousands of materials including cutters, bells, copper coins, bird’s nests, gourd shells, pidis, radios, torch lights, clay banks, bread pans, pidis, dhamas, deer horns.
Demonstrators said that we were once dependent on agriculture and used these materials for livelihood, knowledge, civilization and culture. Over time, they have become fairy tales. We are now reducing their use in rural areas but trying to preserve them. We have organized this program to introduce them to our children and the new generation.
In the post-exhibition dialogue under the chairmanship of local farmer Bhudhar Chandra Mondal, Munshiganj UP member Debashish Mondal, Union Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer Machum Billah, Krishani Lata Rani Mondal, SSST convener Prakash Mondal, Gautam spoke highlighting the importance of these things to sustain the lost rural artifacts. The speakers said, with the evolution of time, our traditions and culture are constantly disappearing from the tribal areas. But these are disappearing due to encroachment of modern agriculture, natural calamities including increase in salinity. So we have to overcome these weaknesses and nurture our culture, traditions and rural patterns. The new generation should be made aware of their use. They should not be separated from this tradition. For that, everyone should come together and play a conservation role.
