ASI Mamunur Rashid and Constable Abu Musa of Shahjadpur Police Station have been booked for indecent behavior with Akhtar Hossain, father of the champion women’s football team’s defense player Ankhi Khatun in the SAFF Games.

They were attached to police lines on Thursday (September 22) afternoon.

Sirajganj Superintendent of Police Arifur Rahman Mondal confirmed this fact and said that 2 policemen involved in the unpleasant incident with footballer Ankhi’s father have been arrested. At the same time, a 1-member investigation committee headed by Assistant Superintendent of Police Hasibul Islam of Shahjadpur Thana Circle has been formed.

It is to be noted that ASI Mamunur Rashid and Constable Abu Musa appeared at Ankhi’s house in Parkola village of Paur Sadar of Shahjadpur Upazila in civilian clothes on Wednesday evening and pressured Ankhi’s father Akter Hossain to sign and accept a court notice. When he refused to sign and accept the notice, ASI Mamunur Rashid got angry with him and behaved rudely with him.

Ankhi and his father Akhtar Hossain were closed on this day in the face of strong condemnation and protest. Meanwhile, Ankhi’s father Akhtar Hossain demanded exemplary punishment for ASI Mamunur Rashid and Constable Abu Musa, who were guilty in this incident.

He said, if they are not given an exemplary punishment, more such unpleasant incidents may happen with footballers later.

Meanwhile, when the Shahjadpur upazila administration went to fill the land allocated in the name of Ankhir on Thursday morning, the soil filling work was stopped due to the obstruction of Dwabaria villagers.

Shahjadpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tariqul Islam said, the villagers did not give any obstacle. Since there is a case in the court regarding that land, the people engaged in filling work have been asked to stop the work of soil filling there for the time being.
