On the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary and national mourning of the greatest architect of Bengali independence, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a discussion meeting and distribution of prizes in various competitions were held on Tuesday, August 15, organized by the Palashbari Upazila administration of Gaibandha.

Earlier, local members of parliament, upazila parishads, municipalities, officials of various departments of upazila administration, Thana police led by Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police, Palashbari Press Club, Reportas Unity, Bangabandhu Cultural Alliance and various political, social, professional organizations and Awami League paid tribute to the portrait of Bangabandhu. Imam Alhaj Mostafizur Rahman Raja of the central mosque conducted prayers for the souls of all the martyrs including Bangabandhu after paying tributes on behalf of the organizations Women’s Awami League, Youth Women’s League, Chhatra League, Jubo League, Volunteer League, National Rickshaw Van Workers League, Fishermen’s League and local educational institutions.

Later, Bangladesh Farmers League General Secretary and Member of National Parliament of Gaibandha-3 (Palashbari-Sadulapur) Adv. Umm Kulsoom Smriti MP. Former Vice President of Upazila Awami League, current district Awami League member and Upazila Parishad Chairman Alhaj AKM Mokched Chowdhury Vidyut, Mayor Golam Sarwar Pradhan Biplab, Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Rafiqul Islam Ripon, Female Vice Chairman Anwara Begum, Palashbari Police Station also spoke at the meeting. Officer-in-charge Arju Md. Sazzad Hossain, General Secretary Touhidul Islam Mondal, Vice President Saifular Rahman Chowdhury Tota, Former Vice President Shahidul Islam Badsha, Palashbari Press Club General Secretary Sirajul Islam Ratan, Reports Unity President Ashraful Islam, Teacher Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Lecturer Tahmina Begum, Youth League President Kalpana Begum and others. Local media workers along with officials of various departments of the upazila were present. The entire program was conducted by instructor Sohail Mia.
