3 houses, 14 shops, 2 easy bikes and 1 motorcycle were burnt to ashes in Adampur market of Kamalganj, Moulvibazar. About 70 lakhs of rupees have been damaged in this fire.

The incident took place on Tuesday, August 15 at six in the morning. A team of fire service from Kamalganj Upazila Sadar came after getting the information about the incident and managed to extinguish the fire after an hour of efforts with the help of local residents.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of Kamalganj-Srimangal area Md. Abdus Shahid MP, Upazila Parishad Chairman Prof. Rafiqur Rahman, Mayor of Kamalganj Municipality Jewel Ahmed along with Kamalganj Upazila Executive Officer, Chairman of Union Parishad, business leaders visited the scene.

Abdal Hossain, Chairman of Adampur Union, said that a fire broke out in the Adampur market at 6 am on Tuesday. Within moments, 14 shops, 3 houses behind the shops, two easy bikes and 1 motorcycle were burnt to ashes. The owners of the burnt shops are, Raich Miah, Shubo Mallik, Nazir Miah, Liton Miah, Nazmul Islam, Suman Miah, Lincoln Chandra Dev, Shahjahan Miah and others.
Apart from this, Usman Khan’s house behind the shop, 1 motorcycle, Rasel Ahmad and Azizur Rahman’s house and two easy bikes of Abdul Ahad and Dulal Mia kept in the area adjacent to the shop were burnt to ashes. After receiving the news of the incident, the MP of Kamalganj-Srimangal area visited the accident site at 2 pm and expressed his condolences to the affected family members as well as provided financial support.
Shopkeeper Shubo Mallik said that he lost both his shop and house in the fire and now he is destitute.

Kamalganj Upazila (Acting) Executive Officer Raich Al Rejuwan confirmed the truth of the incident and said that the upazila and district administration provided assistance to the victims.
