Senior Vice President of Srimangal Upazila Awami League Yushub Ali, a political and social figure in Moulvibazar Srimangal, protested the various allegations against him by businessman Haji Makhan Miah and Phul Miar at Srimangal Press Club on July 10, 2023.

On Saturday (July 5) at 11 am in the Zilla Parishad Auditorium at Bhanugach Road in Srimangal city, in a press conference organized by Yushub Ali Katrik, Yushub Ali mentioned his political, social and business identity in a written speech and said that a person Makhan Mia of Srimangal made false and fictitious allegations against me on July 10. held a press conference. The main reason for this is that I have a long-standing political, social and business reputation in Srimangal, due to which the locals told me that Makhan Mia and Phul Mia Gong have been illegally extracting sand for many years and causing damage to bridges, culverts and roads. In this regard, I found out that Moulvibazar District Commissioner invited tenders for 22 silica sand quarries in Srimangal upazila for the past 1428-29 Bengali year. Accordingly, 22 Mahaldars were selected as the highest bidders by depositing 25% of the security money. Accordingly, the district administration sent the list of names of the highest bidders to the Mineral Resources Development Bureau along with recommendations. The Mahaldars did not feel the need to settle despite repeated demands to deposit the entire amount of revenue along with environmental clearance from the Bureau of Mineral Resources Development. Due to this, the government owes approximately 3 crore 7 lakh 23 thousand 937 rupees to the lessees including the lease price, tax and VAT in the last 2 years. Only one Balu Mahal in Lamua Sirajnagar area of Kalapur Union has been legally leased by Sumaichhara after completing the government process. Sarkar Bahadur owes 81 lakh 31 thousand 250 taka in revenue to Makhan Miah alone. He is extracting and selling sand illegally by syndicate without paying the dues of the government. Other mahaldars have also been evading revenue by depositing 25% security money by extracting sand. In this way, illegal sand extraction is going on till the current 1430 Bengal. I have verbally informed the local administration about this matter. And later on last May 25, 2023, I applied to Director General Environment Directorate Agargaon to stop illegal sand mining and collect government revenue. Also, on July 6, 2023, I submitted an application to the Srimangal Upazila Nirbahi Officer. Pursuant to my application, Director of Mineral Resources Development Bureau came to Srimangal to investigate and ordered Makhan Mia and other Mahaldars to collect environmental clearance on urgent basis and submit it to Mineral Resources Development. Enraged by these reasons and fear of closure of their Balu Mahal, Makhan Mia and Phul Mia Gong held a press conference and made false, fictitious and fabricated allegations against me.
Yushub Ali also said, “I have been defamed by such allegations of Makhan Miah and Phul Miah Gong, so I filed C,R Case No. 256/23 Srimangal, case in Moulvibazar Judicial Magistrate Court. Later the Hon’ble Court directed the PBI to investigate the case. Also, Yushub Ali told reporters why Makhan Mia came to Srimangal from Sylhet. And what was his role in the Great War of Independence in 1971 and why was he expelled from Kushain village of Sylhet district after the war, Yusuf Ali requested the journalists to investigate these issues. He accused Makhon Mia, saying that for the last 30/40 years, he has been extracting sand illegally under the cover of legal sand business. Referring to the government’s revenue evasion and environmental damage, the head of the Sand and Soil Extraction Syndicate said, Makhan Miar has about 22 acres of Devotar property donated to the Hindu Community Trust in Uttarsur area. And in Bahubal area, 150 acres of tea garden land was occupied and lemon garden was developed. Also, after the war two villages named Didarabad and Sundarabad were built on government Khas land in Faizabad area of Bahubal where landless people lived. From there, Yushub Ali said that Makhan Mia planted a lemon garden after evicting the landless and abducting a woman. He also complained of encroachment of government and private land at various places in Srimangal. And Yushub Ali said in a press conference at Srimangal Press Club on July 10 that all allegations made by Makhan Mia and Phul Mia Katrik against him are false, fictitious and fabricated.
When asked about land grabbing by eviction of landless people in Bahubar’s Faizabad area, Habiganj Deputy Commissioner Devi Chand said that if complaints of eviction of landless people and land grabbing are received, action will be taken after investigation. When asked about the encroachment of about 30 acres of land in Habibpur Mauza of Makhan Mia Katrik Srimangal Hail Haor, Assistant Commissioner (AC Land) Sandhip Talukder said that he was not aware of the matter, and action would be taken after investigation if complaints were received.

When asked about this, Haji Makhan Mia said that many false accusations have been made against me. I will even take action on the lies about what was my role in 1971 and why I came from Sylhet to Srimangal.
About 600 people from Yushub Ali’s side besides local dignitaries were present at the press conference of Yushub Ali at Zilla Parishad Auditorium on Srimangal Bhanugach Road.
