The upazila administration has launched an operation to stop pona fish hunting in Srimangal of Moulvibazar.

On Thursday (August 2), Srimangal (Acting) Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Sandeep Talukder conducted this operation.
300 fixed engines (a type of fishing net locally known as Kiran Mala) were seized and destroyed during the operation in Baikkabil area of Srimangal Hail Haor. Srimangal Upazila Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Farazul Kabir assisted in the expedition.

Upazila Executive Officer (Acting) Sandeep Talukder said that such operations will continue to maintain native species of fish and fish breeding in Hail Howar.
