In Bahubal and Shaistaganj, two children died after falling into a pond next to their house. This accident happened yesterday Wednesday (August 2) in Bahubal and Shaistaganj.

They are Toha Mia (6), daughter of Julhas Mia of Nowgarh village of Putizuri union of Bahubal upazila and Rihan Mia (3), son of Saidur Rahman of Barlaria village of Shaestaganj.

Rakibul Islam Khan, officer-in-charge of Bahubal Model Police Station, said Toha died after falling into the pond next to the house. The family members rescued him and took him to the Upazila Health Complex. The doctor there confirmed his death.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shaestaganj Police Station Nazmul Haque Kamal said that on Wednesday afternoon, the child Rihan fell into a pool of dirt near the house, out of sight of everyone. He died in this. Locals found his body in the pond and informed the police. Later, the police went and recovered the body and sent it to the morgue. Meanwhile, the bodies are lying in two hospitals until this report is written.
