National Public Service Day celebrated in Kumarkhali

National Public Service Day was observed at Kumarkhali in Kushtia with the theme of ‘Good Governance First, Innovation in Public Service’. On this occasion, upazila executive officer (UNO) Bitan Kumar Mandal presided over the discussion meeting held at the district upazila parishad conference room at 11:30 am on Sunday.
Speakers at the meeting said, Not the people for the civil service, Rather, civil service is for the people. maintaining law and order, crime prevention, Public Safety Provisions, Regulation of Public Examinations, protect public health, land administration, agricultural development, project implementation, poverty alleviation, public relations, environmental protection, revenue collection, disaster management, Primary and Mass Education, social development, control of adulterated food, Local government management etc. are the core activities of public administration. Integrity behind these duties, Merit and skill are the source of strength and motivation of civil service members. Administration is not only the imposition of authority or control, but also the essential aspect of management.
Administration-Beneficiaries will run in parallel. The present government has been sincere in providing services. Many people will have noticed that earlier those who used to receive services, used to run to government offices. And now Upazila Social Service Officer Mohammad ALi, Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Bitan Kumar Mandal find the service takers and consider themselves blessed with the service.
After hundreds of years of evolution, the civil service in Bangladesh is now very well organized and people-friendly and people-oriented. People working in the public service are working to ensure the best service to the people. In this regard, the five strategies developed for good governance – Citizen Charter, Prosecution, Grievance Redressal Mechanism, Right to Information Act and Annual Performance Agreement – are playing a supportive role. One stop service center has been launched in the offices, Conversion from e-document to D-document, kaizen method, Citizen services are being provided through instant emergency service hotline and Union Digital Centre.
Under the direction of Upazila Social Service Officer Mohammad ALi, Bangladesh Christian Association Kushtia District Branch General Secretary Bishop Zaker ALi Shuva, Negira Kori NGO Coordinator Kamal Hossain, Nagrik Parishad President Akram Hossain, JICA Representative Biplab Kumar Saha, Journalist KMR Shaheen, Upazila Parishad Female Vice Chairman Marina Akhter Meena, Heroic Freedom fighter and others spoke at the meeting. Before this, the colorful procession went round the Upazila Parishad square and met in a discussion meeting.
