Former Election Commissioner (EC) Mahbub Talukder passed away. He died on Wednesday (August 24) around 1 pm while undergoing treatment at United Hospital in the capital.

Mahbub Talukder’s daughter Irene Mahbub confirmed this. He said that Mahbub Talukder was under treatment at the United Hospital of the capital since July 1. He was suffering from various serious non-communicable diseases.

His wife Nilufar Begum and elder daughter Irene Mahbub were in the hospital at the time of his death.

It is learned that his ticket to Chennai was booked on July 16, but it was canceled as his physical condition was not suitable for travel.
