Fake doctor’s chamber silgala, pharmacy and bakery fined in Mithapukur

Consumer Directorate, Rangpur fined three pharmacies and a bakery for keeping expired medicines and food in Mithapukur. Meanwhile, the chamber of a doctor named Majnu Mia was sealed for the crime of deceiving the public by claiming to be a doctor by showing fake documents. Mohammad Azaharul Islam, Deputy Director of Rangpur Divisional Office of Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection conducted this operation on Wednesday (July 19) in the evening at Jaigirhat of the upazila. According to the briefing given to the journalists after the operation and local sources, Dr. Bhai Bhai Pharmacy used to see patients regularly with a shop called Bhai Bhai Pharmacy in Jaigirhat, the busiest area of the upazila. Majnu Mia. On the pharmacy signboard and prescription, he identified himself as a General Medicine Practitioner of Dhaka Children’s Hospital and specially trained in children. Every day miking was done in different markets using such designation. If a patient did not respond well to the medicine prescribed by this doctor, that patient was given Jharphunk and Kabiraji treatment. This is how Majnu Mia was practicing medicine along with the pharmacy avoiding everyone’s eyes. The pharmacy looked like a life-saving drug store from the outside, but inside it was filled with expired drugs that pushed life to the brink of death. Finally, on Wednesday evening, the Rangpur divisional office of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection conducted a raid at Bhai Bhai Pharmacy in Jaigirhat of the upazila. Mohammad Azaharul Islam, the officer conducting the operation, said that a large amount of expired medicines were found in the Bhai Bhai Pharmacy during the operation for about an hour. We are also surprised to see so many expired medicines in a pharmacy. According to Section 51 of the Consumer Rights Act 2009, the owner of the pharmacy, Majnu Miah, was found guilty of the crime of selling and storing expired medicines, and that pharmacy and Chamber Silgala and Rakib Pharmacy of the same area were fined three and a half thousand Taka. In addition, a confectionary named Lima Bakery next door was fined 20,000 taka for the crime against consumer interest. He also said that selling any expired product is a crime. If someone sells expired products, there is a complaint and redressal mechanism with the National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection. Also by calling 16121 number, any consumer has the opportunity to complain against interest.
