BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that BNP is finalizing the outline of the simultaneous movement after discussing with various political parties.

He said, “The police are not opponents of Amod. When the government uses the police, it violates human rights. The only way to end the violence from Bangladesh forever is to reintroduce an impartial caretaker government system during elections.’

He said these things in response to questions from journalists at a press conference at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan in the capital on Tuesday.

Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘Awami League says that the caretaker government system is not in the constitution. Caretaker government system was added by amending the constitution. We (BNP) changed the constitution and made a caretaker government. Again Awami League forcefully canceled it. You (Awami League) still have the majority in Parliament, so easily change the constitution and add caretaker government system.’

In response to another question from the journalists, the BNP Secretary General said, “History says that no government has been able to stay in power for long by carrying out such torture and taking a stand against the people.” Fascist governments stay in power for long periods of time through repression. This time in Bangladesh, it is seen that people have woken up in the midst of murders and disappearances.

In response to another question, he said, “We have not yet had any formal discussion with the National Party.” We have called for simultaneous movement, it is through movement that the future will be determined. The door of discussion is open, we will hold a simultaneous movement with the political parties, individual organizations who will protest against this authoritarian government.
