RM Dairy Farm of Kamalganj, Moulvibazar got the success award in the dairy sector. On Thursday, the organization received an award as a dairy icon in the ‘Dairy category’ at the World Dairy Day 2023 celebration and Dairy Icon celebration at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh Auditorium in the capital. Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu, President of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, the special guest of the program presented the award to the owner of RM Dairy Farm, Mehrun Nesha Begum. To encourage farmers and entrepreneurs to increase milk production, 41 successful farmers and entrepreneurs in the dairy sector have been given the Dairy Icon Award.

As a part of the central program of the World Milk Day, the award was given for the second time in 4 categories by the Department of Livestock under the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock. The program was organized by the Department of Livestock under the overall supervision of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.
This year, 20 people were awarded in the dairy category, 9 people in the milk and meat processing category, 8 people in the animal feed processing category and 4 people in the farm mechanization category. The monetary value of each prize is one lakh rupees. Along with this, everyone is given a crest and a certificate.

In the speech of the chief guest, AKM Mozammel Haque said that the production of milk should be increased to meet the necessary needs of the country. Special initiatives should be taken to meet the demand by filling the shortage of milk. He said that agriculture, fisheries and livestock sectors were once neglected. Bangabandhu was the first to honor those involved in this sector. He realized that the desired development of the country will not happen if the people concerned in this sector are not respected.
RM Dairy Farm started its journey with 12 cows in Adampur, Kamalganj, Moulvabazar. At present the farm produces an average of 600 to 700 liters of milk per day. The farm also supplies meat. The owner of the firm, Mehrun Nesha Begum, said that this success is not just mine alone. Everyone involved with my farm is an equal partner in this success. He said, inspired by the idea of a home and a farm project, I took initiative to establish this farm. Besides making myself self-sufficient, I am able to provide livelihood for some people. Mehrun Nesha Begum, wife of Hanifur Rahman, administrative officer of Sylhet City Corporation, said, “My husband continues to support me despite his busy schedule. It would not have been possible for me to have come this far on my own if my in-laws had not encouraged me.
