On the morning of July 27, 2026, at the Rupantor House Church, Khokhsha, Kushtia – after a peaceful rally demanding the release of a 95-year-old religious leader, pastors and church members reassembled at the same location after marching through various streets.

The event was organized to highlight the importance of humanitarian consideration for elderly detainees, as well as respect for freedom of religion and fundamental human rights. Participants peacefully expressed their views while calling for a fair and impartial legal process.

Participants stated, “A 95-year-old religious leader deserves humanitarian consideration,” adding, “We hope that his age and health condition will be taken into account and that due process and a fair judgment will be upheld.”

Throughout the rally, speakers emphasized messages of peace, unity, and mutual respect among religions. They stressed that dialogue, the rule of law, and respect for human rights should take precedence over conflict and division.

The organizers said, “This rally is not intended to criticize any particular group. Rather, it is a peaceful appeal to promote the universal values of peace, human rights, and freedom of religion.” They also expressed hope that the international community would pay close attention to the matter from a humanitarian perspective.

The rally concluded with an orderly march and peaceful slogans, with participants reaffirming their commitment to supporting peace, human rights, and continued dialogue in society.
