Two drug dealers arrested with 10 thousand yaba tablets in Khuniapalong, Cox’s Bazar
In a special operation on the Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway, the Ramu Crossing Highway Police have arrested two drug dealers from Khuniapalong Union of Ukhia with about 10 thousand pieces of yaba tablets. A motorcycle used for transporting yaba was also seized at that time. (March 10) at around 8:50 pm, they were arrested while conducting a search at a temporary check post set up in front of the Captain Cox Petrol Pump in the bus terminal area under Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station on the Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway.
According to police sources, based on a secret information, Police Inspector Nasir Uddin and members of the mobile team led by Ramu Crossing Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nasir Uddin conducted a special search operation on the highway. At that time, a motorcycle (registration number: Cox’s Bazar-L-11-6451) was stopped and searched, and about 10 thousand pieces of Yaba tablets were recovered from the driver and rider. The arrested are – Md. Shahed (24), son of Ayub Ali, a resident of Dhechua Palong area of Khuniapalong union in Ukhia upazila, and Ali Hossain (36), son of Abu Chhayed of the same area.
Police said that information was found during initial interrogation that the detainees had been collecting Yaba from the border area for a long time and supplying it to different places via motorcycle. Ramu Crossing Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nasir Uddin said that the Highway Police is conducting regular operations to prevent drug trafficking using the highway. A case under the Narcotics Control Act is under process against the arrested. He also said that such operations by the Highway Police will continue to keep the Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway free of drugs.
