Rally and fire safety drill on the occasion of National Disaster Preparedness Day
A ‘rally and fire safety drill’ has been held in Kumarkhali, Kushtia on the occasion of National Disaster Preparedness Day. National Disaster Preparedness Day has been observed in the upazila with the theme ‘We will fight in disaster preparedness, build the Bangladesh of the youth’. On the occasion of the day, a rally was taken out in front of the Kumarkhali Upazila Parishad at 11:30 am on Tuesday. After the rally, officials of Kumarkhali Fire Service and Civil Defense performed a firefighting drill. Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Farzana Akhtar was present as the chief guest at the fire safety drill and discussion meeting.
Speaking as the chief guest, Upazila Executive Officer(UNO) Farzana Akhtar said, preparation is the key to dealing with all disasters. If there is advance preparation, it becomes easier to deal with any disaster. We will always be ready to deal with disasters. Industrial factories must be prepared to deal with disasters. Because there is a mill factory in Kumarkhali. Therefore, we need to increase awareness and be aware. Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md. Dostdar Hossain said, Bangladesh is no longer known as a disaster-prone country. Our country has acquired the capacity to deal with institutional disasters through preventive management such as the development of alert systems, active presence of modern rescue teams, construction of shelters, etc. The public must be aware and capable of dealing with the initial situation of any disaster. Later, members of the Fire Service and Civil Defense team demonstrated exercises on self-defense techniques in fire incidents. Also present at the time were Assistant Commissioner (Land) Kumarkhali, Navid Sarwar, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Mahmudul Hasan, Station Officer Kumarkhali Fire Station, Upazila Accounts Officer, etc.
