Two newly elected MPs seek cooperation to make Gopalganj free of drugs and juvenile gangs
BNP-nominated newly elected MP Dr. KM Babar from Gopalganj-2 constituency and BNP-nominated newly elected MP SM Jilani from Gopalganj-3 constituency sought the overall cooperation of everyone to make Gopalganj free from drugs, eve teasing, ambulance rental and juvenile gangs including syndicates.
They said this while attending the first monthly meeting of the District Law and Order Committee organized at the conference room of the Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner on Sunday (March 8) afternoon.
They also expressed their intention to have the District Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) investigate all the allegations of looting in various development activities in the district in the past few days.
At this time, the members of parliament expressed their utmost gratitude to all the officials and employees who worked tirelessly in the 13th National Parliament Election held on February 12 and gave the nation a free, fair and impartial election.
He also called upon everyone to work together to continue the ongoing development activities of Gopalganj district under the strong leadership of the current Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and to ensure transparency and accountability in all areas.
At this time, he requested everyone to talk to them fearlessly and freely on any issue and to contact them on their mobile phones if necessary and inform them about the relevant issues.
He also emphasized the importance of conducting mobile campaigns against illegal brick kilns that have been set up in various areas including Sadar Upazila of Gopalganj in order to build an environment-friendly district.
The monthly meeting of the District Law and Order Committee was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate Md. Arif-Uz-Zaman.
In an open discussion, Gopalganj District BNP Convening Committee Member and District Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Public Prosecutor Ad Md. Taufiqul Islam sought the administration’s intervention to stop juvenile gangs and mob terrorism and anarchy.
Press Club, Gopalganj President Md. Zubair Hossain highly appreciated the presence of two MPs together in the monthly meeting of the District Law and Order Committee. He requested that all those involved in the vandalism of a hotel in the city by a juvenile gang on the night of March 7 be brought under the law.
District Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice President Md. Mosharraf Hossain said that the prevalence of fake money in the market has increased ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
He requested the district intelligence agency and the concerned law and order forces to increase surveillance in plain clothes in this regard.
Earlier, before the monthly meeting of the District Law and Order Committee began, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) SM Tarek Sultan informed everyone about all the preparations for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr and the first congregation to be held at the Central Municipal Eidgah Maidan at 8 am.
Along with this, he provided various guidelines taken by the district administration to the concerned for the completion of the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers in a festive atmosphere and then informed everyone present about the various programs taken by the district administration on the occasion of the celebration of the great Independence Day on March 26.
