A colorful rally and discussion meeting were held in Kumarkhali, Kushtia on the occasion of International Women’s Day-2026.
On this occasion, on March 8 at 10 am, a colorful rally organized by the Kumarkhali Upazila Administration and Women’s Affairs Officer’s Office started from the Upazila Parishad premises and after circumambulating the city, a discussion meeting was held in the Upazila Parishad meeting room on the occasion of the day with the theme ‘Today’s steps, tomorrow’s justice should protect the rights of women and girls’. Md. Afzal Hossain, Member of Parliament for 78 Kushtia-4 Kumarkhali-Khoksa constituency, spoke as the chief guest at the discussion meeting presided over by Kumarkhali Upazila Executive Officer Farzana Akhtar. At the event, the chief guest said, there is no room for neglecting women. Every year, like the rest of the world, we celebrate ‘International Women’s Day’ with due respect. Inequality does not happen with men, it happens with women. We should all think of women as human beings first, not as mothers, sisters or wives.
At the beginning of the discussion, Kumarkhali Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Md. Ruby Akhter delivered a welcome speech. At that time, she said that it is the responsibility of all of us to ensure the correct evaluation of women’s labor. It is not compassion for women, but our duty to ensure all their rights. In the president’s speech, Kumarkhali Upazila Executive Officer Farzana Akhter said that if we can arrange a comfort room for women in every workplace, then women workers will feel comfortable and safe in their workplace, while doing their personal work, they will also be able to do their official work well. Assistant Commissioner (Land) Kumarkhali, Navid Sarwar, Kumarkhali Police Station OC (Investigation) Amirul Islam, Agriculture Officer Raisul Islam and others spoke as special guests. At that time, officials of various departments of Kumarkhali Upazila, school and college teachers, students, NGO representatives, journalists and dignitaries were present.
