A discussion meeting was held in Gopalganj on the occasion of International Women’s Day-2026 with the theme “Today’s Action, Tomorrow’s Justice – Protect the Rights of Women and Girls”. The discussion meeting was organized on Sunday (March 8) morning at the Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner’s conference room “Swachhta” by the district administration and the District Women’s Affairs Officer’s office under the joint initiative of the district administration. The Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate Md. Arif-uz-Zaman delivered an objective and significant speech as the chief guest in the discussion meeting.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) SM Tarek Sultan presided over the welcome speech, and Lakhsana Lucky, Deputy Director of the District Women’s Affairs Department. District Superintendent of Police Md. Habibullah was present as a special guest in the discussion meeting and presented objective information. Amit Debnath, Chief Executive Officer of the District Council, also spoke. Many others, including women entrepreneurs, spoke at the event moderated by Selina Akhter Shammi.
The speakers urged everyone to be aware and work together to protect the rights of women and girls, establish equality, and empower women. During this time, various Teachers and students of government and private educational institutions, leaders of women’s organizations, and women students and entrepreneurs trained by the District Women’s Affairs Organization were present. Meanwhile, International Women’s Day-2026 was celebrated through various programs in Muksudpur Upazila, Kashiani, Tungipara and Kotalipara Upazilas of Gopalganj.
