Irregularities in lemon syndicate and agricultural product shops in Sreemangal, 6 establishments fined
A team of Consumer Rights Protection and RAB-9 has started monitoring the market in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar due to the abnormal increase in the price of lemon during the holy month of Ramadan.
During the monitoring drive, irregularities were found in lemon syndicate and agricultural product shops. A fine of 43 thousand taka has been imposed on 6 establishments. And the syndicate traders have been warned of strict punishment.
On Sunday (March 1), a team of National Consumer Rights Protection Moulvibazar Office and RAB-9 fined the establishments after these irregularities were found during the monitoring of various markets in Sreemangal. Md. Al-Amin, Assistant Director of the District Office of Consumer Rights Protection.
At that time, he said, while visiting the market, it was seen that although the wholesale price of lemons is 16 taka per hali, traders are syndicated and selling them at 80 taka.
Buyers are being cheated due to their high profits during the month of Ramadan. At the same time, raids were conducted on some agricultural product shops and fertilizer shops. Irregularities were found there too. Fines were imposed. And traders have been strictly warned.
In Sunday’s raid, a total of 43 thousand taka was fined to 6 establishments for violating the consumer law. In the interest of consumers, such surveillance raids will continue in every market and market of Moulvibazar district.
