In the Uttar Durakuti Paglatari area of Nilphamari Kishoreganj Upazila, Yahia, Abdul Malek alias Bhutu, Abdul Halim, Nia Mia, Peyarul Islam, Madhu Mia and Bilkis Begum have been accused of land grabbing in violation of court orders. They are residents of Nitai Dangapara and Uttar Durakuti Paglatari villages.
According to the complaint, the accused forcibly occupied a total of 78 acres of land belonging to the victim Abul Kalam Azad on the side of the road adjacent to Kalurghat Bridge in Nitai Dangapara area, SA 5502, BS 9908, 9909, 9910. Meanwhile, when a case was filed on this land, the court at one stage banned the accused from using the land. But they are cultivating raw chili, brinjal and iri paddy inside the banana orchard on the land, defying the court’s ban.
The victim, Abul Kalam Azad, said, “They have filed a civil case against me with fake ownership and forged documents. But we have purchased this land on the basis of a deed and documents and have been occupying it for 26 years. We have even built a banana orchard on the land. Despite the court’s ban, they have damaged 50 banana trees in that banana orchard and are forcibly cultivating raw chili, brinjal and iri paddy inside the orchard. When we talk to them, they attack us and abuse us in foul language. But we respect the law.
The victim’s father, Nazrul Islam, said, “We have purchased this land and have been occupying it for 26 years. In such a situation, the accused filed a case in the court demanding to get this land. At one point, the judge of the court found our land documents correct and issued a ban on them from entering the land.” They are forcibly cultivating the land in violation of the court’s ban. When we spoke, they attacked us and abused us in foul language. We did not protest because we respect the court. I request the court to give them exemplary punishment.
