Rupsha Upazila of Khulna district is known as the vote bank of BNP. Rupsha Upazila consists of 5 unions. The unions are Aichgati, Sriphaltala, Noihati, TSC and Ghatbhog. The results of the recently concluded parliamentary elections show that 11-party alliance candidate SM Sakhawat Hossain in Rupsha Upazila received 47,414 votes while BNP candidate Azizul Bari Helal received 55,668 votes. According to the union, the BNP suffered the most losses in Naihati and TSB unions. On the other hand, the Gatbhog union, which received the most votes in the Hindu-dominated area, won this union by a margin of 3 Multiplication.
When asked about the reason for the disaster of votes in Rupsha Upazila, a BNP leader who did not want to be named said, “Encroachment, extortion, and party grouping in various places after August 5 are responsible.” In addition, failure to evaluate qualified and talented people, overconfidence, and failure to earn the trust of women voters are responsible.

But in this election, there has been a complete disaster in Naihati and TSB Unions.” However, our Sanatanis, including Ghatbhog Union, voted for Helal Bhai. On our behalf, we held a huge traditional gathering in Ghatbhog Union with Sanatanis people. We have been able to convince the Sanatanis that BNP is a pro-independence party. The country is safe in the hands of BNP. That’s why the Sanatanis give us vote, we win by a huge margin. The pro-independence forces give us vote and we win. He said, BNP should evaluate the Sanatanis in every single way and work to earn the trust of the Sanatanis.
