In the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum-2026, common people including freedom fighters want to see Dr. KM Babar, the newly elected MP nominated by BNP in Gopalganj-2 constituency with the symbol of paddy sheaf, as the State Minister for Health.

Gopalganj-2 constituency is known as the impregnable fortress of Bangladesh Awami League. Where once BNP’s politics meant taking extreme risks of life, a fearless leader has emerged there.

He is Dr. KM Babar. His oath-taking ceremony is on Tuesday (February 17). And on the eve of this oath-taking, along with the common people of 28 unions and one municipality of Gopalganj, now the brave freedom fighters of the district have also raised a demand in one voice – they want to see Dr. KM Babar, the favorite face of the Trinamool, as the country’s next ‘State Minister for Health’.

The influence of freedom fighters in Gopalganj politics is very deep. After many years, they have found such a decent and honest leader around whom they dream of development. According to local freedom fighters, Dr. KM Babar is not only a great political leader, he is a patriot and a man with a clean image.

They feel that it is the demand of the hour to include an honest person like Dr. KM Babar in the cabinet (as a state minister) to ensure radical changes in the neglected health sector of Gopalganj and good governance. Immediately after the election results were announced, Dr. KM Babar proved why he is an exception.

Before taking oath, he rushed to Gopalganj Medical College and Hospital, personally went to the spot and inquired about ordinary patients. Not only that, to fulfill the election promise made to the Hindu community, he rushed to Orakandi, the holy pilgrimage site of the Matua community.

Forgetting political differences, he is today a symbol of trust for people of all religions and castes. The common people and brave freedom fighters of Gopalganj-2 constituency have made a special request to Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman.

They are saying that Dr. Babar should be given a proper evaluation as a reward for keeping the party’s flag high in a hostile environment for more than a decade and a half and organizing the grassroots well.

As a skilled and people-friendly doctor, if he is given the responsibility of the State Minister of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, it will be a milestone not only for the people of Gopalganj, but also for the entire health sector reforms of Bangladesh.
