BNP’s historic victory in 5 parliamentary seats in Cox’s Bazar

In the recently concluded 13th National Parliament elections, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidates have won all four seats in Cox’s Bazar district by a significant margin.

After a long wait, four heavyweight leaders of the party are going to step on the green carpet of parliament.

According to the results announced by the District Returning Officer’s office on Friday, February 13, the margin of victory between the winning candidates and the losing candidates was huge in the remaining 3 seats except for Cox’s Bazar 4.

All four elected are experienced politicians and all of them are former members of parliament. None of the 4 elected are new members of parliament. None of the 4 elected members are new as members of parliament. Who has become a member of parliament for how many times?

Cox’s Bazar-1: Salahuddin in parliament for the fourth time with a big margin

The Chakaria-Pekua (Cox’s Bazar-1) constituency is known as the stronghold of BNP standing committee member and former state minister Salahuddin Ahmed.

Returning to the country after a long exile, he won this election by a big margin of 92 thousad 291 votes.

He received 2 lakh 22 thousand 19 votes in 178 centers, including postal ballots.

His main rival, Jamiat Islam’s candidate Abdullah Al Farooq, received 1 lakh 29 thousand 728 votes.

According to the records of the National Parliament, he was elected as a member of parliament in 1996 (winning two rounds of elections) and 2001. He is going to take oath as a member of parliament for the fourth time by winning the 13th National Parliament election in 2026.

Cox’s Bazar-2: Alamgir Muhammad Mahfuzullah Farid’s third innings in the National Parliament In Cox’s Bazar-2 (Moheshkhali-Kutubdia) constituency, Alamgir Muhammad Mahfuzullah Farid received 1 lakh 25 thousand 543 votes from 125 centers including postal ballots.
His rival Dr. AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad received 91 thousand 889 votes. The gap is 33 thousand 654.

According to the records of the National Parliament, Farid, who was a member of parliament in 1996 and 2001, is going to take oath as a member of the National Parliament for the third time.

In Cox’s Bazar-3 constituency, BNP’s Lutfur Rahman Kajol received 1 lakh 82 thousand 96 votes from a total of 183 polling centers including postal ballots. His rival Shahidul Islam Bahadur got 1 lakh 61 thousand 827 votes. The margin is 20 thousand 269.

According to the records of the National Parliament, Kajol, who was first elected in 2008, is going to take oath as a member of the National Parliament for the second time.

Cox’s Bazar-4: Shahjahan Chowdhury in Parliament for the fifth time In the Ukhia-Teknaf (Cox’s Bazar-4) constituency, District BNP President Shahjahan Chowdhury competed fiercely with District Jamaat Amir Noor Ahmed Anwari using the symbol of a sheaf of rice.
Shahjahan Chowdhury got 1 lakh 23 thousand 582 votes in 116 centers, including postal ballots. His nearest rival Noor Ahmed Anwari got 1 lakh 22 thousand 33 votes. In the end, Shahjahan Chowdhury secured victory by a margin of 1 thousand 549 votes.

According to the records of the National Assembly, he was elected as a member of the Parliament in the elections of 1979, 1991, 1996 and 2001. After a long break, he is going to take oath as a member of the National Assembly for the fifth time by winning the thirteenth National Assembly election in 2026.

Apart from playing a role in keeping the legislative body, the National Assembly, effective, the common people expect that the coastal town will return to the mainstream of development under the leadership of these four experienced leaders of Cox’s Bazar.
