Zero Tolerance Election Preparations: Ansar and VDP take a tough stand against fake certificates and corruption in Hatirjheel

Organizing a free, fair and acceptable national parliamentary election is one of the most important responsibilities of the state in order to maintain democratic continuity and ensure the people’s right to vote. Taking this responsibility with utmost importance—with a zero tolerance policy against irregularities and corruption—Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force have been undertaking well-planned, technology-based and extensive preparations for the past one and a half years. In a recent incident, an allegation of corruption has been uncovered through the close supervision of the force. According to the allegation, TDP party leader Mamun of Ward No. 22 of Hatirjheel Police Station made fake certificates for Tk 400 each and included 330 untrained people in election duty and later received information that they were receiving a bribe of Tk 1,100 each in the name of giving them the responsibility. As soon as the matter was revealed, it was decided to relieve all those concerned from their election duties. The accused ward party leader Mamun has been absconding since this heinous act. A general diary has been filed at the local police station and exemplary legal action is being taken.

Modern management has been adopted to ensure professionalism and transparency in the performance of election duties. Training programs are being conducted according to the revised syllabus, youth and skills are being prioritized in the selection of trainees, and only genuine and valid certificate holders are being assigned to duties through the use of AVMIS software. In addition, strict surveillance has been strengthened to detect fake certificates, prevent irregularities, and eradicate bribery.

Director General has reiterated the zero tolerance policy against corruption and given clear instructions On 11th february 2026  today—not only physical ability, but also valid certificates and institutional qualifications are the main conditions for election duties. Because a fair election is a sacred trust entrusted to the country and the people.

The countrywide preparatory rallies have reiterated that anyone involved in irregularities or corruption will be immediately relieved of their electoral duties and action will be taken under the existing law—no concessions will be made in this regard.

The current administration is clearly committed that no opportunity will be given to question the election and state trust through any person with fake certificates, incompetent or influenced. This strict and transparent stance is not only ensuring the internal integrity of the force, but also further strengthening public trust in the upcoming national elections, institutional credibility and the overall national security framework.
