PFG’s mobile truck cultural campaign demanding peaceful elections in Sreemangal
A mobile truck cultural campaign and leaflet distribution program was held in Sreemangal to raise public awareness demanding free, fair and conflict-free elections to the 13th National Parliament.
The program was inaugurated at 11 am on Sunday (February 8) from the Sreemangal Chowmuhana Chattar. The program was organized by Peace Facilitator Group (PFG), Sreemangal in collaboration with The Hunger Project Bangladesh.
Conducted by PFG’s Sreemangal Coordinator and journalist Syed Syed Ahmed, the day-long program included cultural performances in Station Road, Petrol Pump Chattar, Kalighat Road Chowmuhna, Sindurkhan Bazar, Satgaon Bazar and Bhairab Bazar areas, as well as distributing leaflets to the general public.
During this time, a call was made to maintain mutual respect, dignity and tolerance among political parties. In addition to refraining from spreading religious hatred, voters and party workers were made aware of avoiding conflicts. At the same time, the public was warned about the impact of muscle power and black money. Syed Ahmed said that public awareness is very important to ensure peaceful and participatory elections. Such initiatives will play a helpful role in increasing interest and sense of responsibility among people about voting rights.
PFG Ambassador Maulana MA Rahim Nomani, former Ambassador Kazi Asma Akhter, member Debabrata Dutta Habul, journalists Rubel Ahmed, Khairun Nahar Lipi, Md. Maksudur Rahman, Shahida Akhter Moni, Mohammad Sayefur Rahman, Mohammad Shamsu Mia, women’s leader Sharmin Jahan, journalists Sumon Mia, Rokeya Begum and others were present at the program.
Local people from different classes and professions participated spontaneously and expressed their support for peaceful and acceptable elections.
