At the monthly meeting of the District Law and Order Committee in Gopalganj, the Chairman of the Committee, Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate (Deputy Secretary) Md. Arif-uz-Zaman sought the overall cooperation of everyone to conduct the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum-2026 to be held on February 12 in a festive atmosphere.

In his speech at the meeting organized by the Gopalganj District Administration at 11:30 am on Sunday (February 8) at the District Commissioner’s conference room “Swachhta”, he said that the district administration is determined to conduct the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum to be held on February 12 in a free, fair and impartial festive atmosphere. All activities are already in the final stage.

The moments before and after the election are very important. As the District Returning Officer, his responsibilities and work schedule have increased in view of the election.

At this time, he expressed his utmost gratitude to all the members of the District Law and Order Committee present and said that you are cooperating with the district administration by providing various information and suggestions as always. He sought everyone’s overall cooperation in order to conduct the election peacefully.

Gopalganj District Superintendent of Police Md. Habibullah highlighted the overall situation of law and order in the district and said that 20 people committed suicide in the district last month, which is undesirable for no one, to this end, suicides in mosques, madrasas and various religious institutions are a great sin He advised people to be motivated on the basis of religious significance.

He also said that a pregnant mother accused of killing her daughter due to her addiction to extramarital affairs has been taken under the law. He also urged every parent to be more attentive to their children, especially daughters. He expressed hope that the law and order situation in the district will improve further in February.

Earlier, in the monthly meeting of the Law and Order Committee held under the chairmanship of Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Fariha Tanjin, after a brief review of various issues of January/’26 and presentation of the decisions taken, in the open discussion at the meeting, President of Press Club Gopalganj Md. Zubair Hossain, in his speech, sought the intervention of the administration to stop the illegal sale of fuel oil, especially petrol, octane, kerosene and diesel, in various shops to prevent sabotage in view of the upcoming national elections. Deputy Commissioner Md. Arif-uz-Zaman directed the concerned to take steps in this regard.
