BNP wants victory in five seats in Netrakona

BNP wants to secure victory in five parliamentary seats in Netrokona district, while Jamaat-e-Islami wants at least one seat. As the date of the 13th National Parliament elections on Thursday, February 12, approaches, the election campaign is increasing. The district is filled with election fever and the air of voting. There is great enthusiasm and lively activity among the leaders and workers of the political parties. Voters who have not been able to vote for a long decade and a half have started analyzing the candidates.

Although the candidates of BNP, Awami League and Jatiya Party have been elected repeatedly in the last 12 National Parliament elections, no candidate of Jamaat-e-Islami has been elected to any seat in the district.

In this situation, BNP wants to ensure victory in 5 parliamentary seats in Netrokona district, while Jamaat-e-Islami wants to snatch at least one seat.

In Netrokona 3, the newly expelled rebel candidate Delwar Hossain Bhuiyan is contesting in one of the constituencies, so along with the election fever, widespread violence is also being observed in this constituency.

General voters and political analysts believe that we will have to wait for the final results to see who will finally smile at the winner.

Netrokona-1 (Durgapur-Kalmakanda) Netrokona-1 constituency consists of Durgapur and Kalmakanda upazilas bordering India, which are dominated by Garo Hajong and Bengalis. The total number of voters in this constituency is 4 lakh 56 thousand 1 hundred 82 people.

Barrister Kaiser Kamal, Legal Affairs Secretary of the BNP Central Committee and Secretary General of the Nationalist Lawyers Forum, has been nominated from BNP for this constituency.

He is being contested by Khilafat Majlish candidate (former MP Jatiya Party) Golam Rabbani, a Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance.

The other candidates in this seat are Jatiya Party’s Md. Anwar Hossain Khan, Bangladesh Communist Party’s Md. Alkas Uddin Mir, Islami Andolan Bangladesh’s Md. Abdul Mannan Sohag, and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD)’s Md. Belal Hossain.

General voters and political analysts believe that BNP candidate Barrister Kaiser Kamal has the highest chance of winning in this seat.

Netrokona-2 (Sadar-Barhatta) Netrokona-2 constituency is made up of Netrokona Sadar and Barhatta upazilas. The total number of voters in this constituency is 5 lakh 2 thousand 4 hundred 38.

The BNP nomination for this seat is received by the district BNP president and prominent orthopedic physician Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Haque.

He is being contested by Fahim Rahman Khan Pathan, a central member of the National Citizens Party (NCP) from the 10-party alliance led by Jamaat.

The other candidates in this seat are Maulana Abdul Qayyum of the Islami Andolan, ABM Rafiqul Haque Talukder of the Jatiya Party and Assistant Secretary General of the Khilafat Andolan Gazi Abdur Rahim Ruhi.

The general voters and political analysts believe that the BNP candidate, District BNP President Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Haque, has the highest chance of winning in this seat.

Netrokona-3 (Kendua-Atpara) Netrokona-3 constituency consists of Kendua-Atpara upazila.

The total number of voters in this constituency is 4 lakh 20 thousand 6 hundred 87. BNP has nominated BNP Central Executive Committee member and District BNP General Secretary Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam Hilali for this constituency.

He is facing a fierce competition from former District BNP Vice President, former UP Chairman, former Mayor of Kendua Municipality, former Chairman of Kendua Upazila Parishad, and recently expelled independent candidate Md. Delwar Hossain Bhuiyan Dulal.

The other candidates in this constituency are Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Md. Khairul Kabir Niyogi, Jatiya Party’s Md. Abul Hossain Talukder, Islami Andolan’s Md. Zakir Hossain and Islamic Front’s candidate Md. Shamchujoha.

In this seat, there will be a tough fight between BNP candidate Md. Rafiqul Islam Hilali and BNP rebel independent candidate Delwar Hossain Bhuiyan Dulal.

General voters and political analysts believe that we will have to wait until the final results are announced to see who will finally emerge victorious.

Netrokona-4 (Madan-Mohanganj-Khaliajuri) Netrokona-4 constituency consists of Madan, Mohanganj, and Khaliajuri upazilas, known as the haor area of ​​Netrokona district.

This constituency is known as the stronghold of BNP, also known as Babar. The total number of voters in this constituency is 3 lakh 75 thousand 3 hundred 12. The heavyweight candidate for this constituency is former State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfuzzaman Babar. He is being contested by Mymensingh Metropolitan Jamaat-e-Islami Organizing Secretary Md. Al Helal Talukder.

The other candidates in this constituency are Md. Mukhlesur Rahman of the Islamic Movement, Jolly Talukder of the Bangladesh Communist Party, and Champa Rani Sarkar of the Revolutionary Workers Party.

General voters and political analysts believe that BNP candidate former state minister Lutfuzzaman Babar will be elected in this seat by getting the most votes.

Netrokona-5 constituency consists of Purbadhola, the only upazila in Netrokona-5 (Purbadhala) district.

The total number of voters in this constituency is 2 lakh 90 thousand 1 hundred 17 people. Former general secretary of district BNP, former VP Alhaj Md. Abu Taher Talukder has been nominated by BNP in this seat.

District Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary and former vice chairman of Upazila Parishad Professor Masum Mostafa is competing with him. The other candidate in this seat is Islami Andolan candidate Md. Nurul Islam.

General voters and political analysts believe that Jamaat candidate Masum Mostafa will compete well with BNP candidate Alhaj Abu Taher Talukder in this seat.
