BNP holds huge rally in support of Kajol in Cox’s Bazar
Has Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami taken over the contract of Islam? BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has raised the question. He said, “The people know who we are very well.
Those who once opposed the independence of this country, handed over their mothers and sisters to the Pakistani occupying forces and tortured minorities, how can they talk about the history of independence today.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at an election rally organized in support of BNP-nominated MP candidate Lutfur Rahman Kajol from Cox’s Bazar-3 constituency at Bir Muktijoddha Ground in Cox’s Bazar town on Friday afternoon.
Salahuddin Ahmed said, “We are the party that added ‘Bismillahir Rahmanihir Rahim’ to the constitution. Martyred President Ziaur Rahman included full trust and faith in Allah Almighty in the constitution in 1979 as the basic principle of running the state.
We are the party of that ideal.” He said, Martyr Ziaur Rahman rose above religion, caste, ethnicity and culture and established the ‘Bangladeshi’ identity. He built a united Bangladesh with all the people of the plains and mountains. BNP has never done the politics of division on the basis of religion.
At the public meeting, he also said that those who do the politics of selling tickets to heaven at cheap prices and try to mislead mothers and sisters will never be able to gain the trust of the people of this country. Those whose passports have Bangladeshi identity written on them are the real citizens of this country.
Salahuddin, mentioning that BNP holds the dreams of those who shed blood and were martyred in the 24th student uprising, said that BNP wants to work to realize the aspirations of the people of the country. Criticizing Jamaat, he said that the party is trying to rewrite the history of independence today.
However, history is clear—on the night of March 25, Pakistani forces carried out a massacre and in the early hours of March 26, the then Major Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman declared the independence of Bangladesh. That is why March 26 is our Independence Day.
At that time, he urged voters to vote for BNP candidate Lutfur Rahman Kajal in Cox’s Bazar-3 constituency. Speaking as a special guest at the public meeting, Azizul Haque Islamabadi, the central joint secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam, said, “Jamaat is not an Islamic party, it is Maududi Islam.
A party is dreaming of power using the guise of Islam. We will not let Bangladesh become the talukdar of any power, be it Delhi or Washington.” Candidate Lutfur Rahman Kajal presented several demands to the government at the meeting. He said that if people’s land is acquired for development, consent and fair compensation must be ensured.
It is unacceptable to keep those living on Khas land and PF land in fear of eviction. If necessary, they should be given legality by law and if evicted, rehabilitation should be ensured. Regarding the tourism industry, he said that despite the huge potential in Cox’s Bazar, this sector is being hampered by various restrictions.
Necessary laws will be formulated to open up the tourism industry, bring in foreign investment and increase employment. Referring to the blue economy, he demanded the establishment of a specialized public university in Cox’s Bazar for marine resource-based research and employment generation. The public meeting began at 3 pm and continued until 5:45 pm.
Leaders and activists from different areas started arriving at the public meeting venue from noon. The meeting venue turned into a sea of people. People from different classes and professions, including leaders of BNP and allied organizations, spoke at the public meeting.
