Debate competition organized by the Department of Narcotics Control: District Champion Cox’s Bazar Government College

To increase awareness among students and build social resistance against drugs, the Department of Narcotics Control, Cox’s Bazar organized a district-level debate competition.

On this occasion, lively and competitive debates were held with the participation of students from various educational institutions of the district. A total of eight educational institutions from Cox’s Bazar district participated in this competition.

The institutions are Cox’s Bazar Government College, Cox’s Bazar Medical College, Cox’s Bazar International University, Cox’s Bazar Government Women’s College, Cox’s Bazar Hashemia Kamil Madrasa, Cox’s Bazar City College, Ramu Government College and Ramu Cantonment Public School and College.

In the first round, Cox’s Bazar Government College, Cox’s Bazar Medical College, Cox’s Bazar Hashemia Kamil Madrasa and Cox’s Bazar International University defeated their respective opponents and won.

In the semi-final round, a heated and logical debate was held between Cox’s Bazar Government College and Cox’s Bazar Hashemia Kamil Madrasa. In this competitive round, Cox’s Bazar Government College emerged victorious and qualified for the final.

On the other hand, Cox’s Bazar Medical College defeated its opponent team in the other semi-final and made it to the final. Cox’s Bazar Government College defeated Cox’s Bazar Medical College in the final round and became the district champion.

The program was presided over by Mohammad Zahid Hossain Mollah, Additional Director of the Narcotics Control Department, Chittagong Divisional Office, and Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Abdul Mannan was present as the chief guest.

Cox’s Bazar Police Superintendent A. M. M. Sajedur Rahman, District Education Officer Mohammad Golam Mostafa, Deputy Director of the Youth Development Department Md. Moazzem Hossain and General Secretary of the Cox’s Bazar Press Club Momtaz Uddin Bahari were present as special guests.

After the results were announced, Cox’s Bazar Government College Principal Professor Abul Hasnat Mohammad Mofizul Haque congratulated the winning debaters. He said that Cox’s Bazar Government College Debate Club has achieved the top position in the district like every time.

He expressed satisfaction with this achievement and expressed hope of achieving more success at the departmental and national levels in the future. The debate competition was organized under the leadership of Suman Mondal, Deputy Director of the Narcotics Control Department, Cox’s Bazar.

He called on everyone to work together to create social awareness against drugs. Moinuddin Rakib, President of Cox’s Bazar Government College Debate Club, served as the moderator of the competition.

The first speaker in the debate on behalf of Cox’s Bazar Government College was S. M. Lutfur Kabir, the second speaker was Fahmida Hasan Heva, and Asifa Binte Rimu was the team leader.

Fahmida Hasan Heva was selected as the best speaker in the competition. At the end of the event, the debaters expressed their gratitude to everyone involved and sought everyone’s blessings for future activities.
