Debate competition held by the Narcotics Control Department
With the firm conviction of saying ‘no’ to drugs, a lively anti-drug debate competition was held at Cox’s Bazar Government College with the aim of creating awareness among the students about the terrible ill effects of drugs and building a rational thinking generation.
The debate competition held at the auditorium of Cox’s Bazar Government College Tuesday was organized by the Narcotics Control Department, Cox’s Bazar District Office. The Cox’s Bazar Government College Debate Club provided overall support to this.
Cox’s Bazar Government College Principal Professor Abul Hasnat Md. Mofizul Haque was present as the chief guest at the event. In his speech, he said, “Drugs destroy the future of a nation.
Students should stay away from the terrible clutches of drugs and develop themselves as skilled human resources and devote themselves to the work of building the country.”
The event was chaired by Somen Mondal, Deputy Director of the Department of Narcotics Control, Cox’s Bazar. Cox’s Bazar Government College Vice Principal Professor Md. Ohidul Islam and Teachers’ Council Secretary Muhammad Ullah spoke as special guests.
Assistant Professor Md. Golam Mostafa of the Bengali Department also spoke, highlighting the importance of building a social movement against drugs.
Moin Uddin Rakib, a student of the Economics Department and President of the Cox’s Bazar Government College Debate Club, served as the moderator for the entire debate competition.
It is worth noting that 8 renowned educational institutions of Cox’s Bazar district participated in this debate competition.
The institutions are – Cox’s Bazar Government College, Cox’s Bazar Government Women’s College, Ramu Government College, Cox’s Bazar City College, Shaheed Lieutenant Tanzim Cantonment Public School and College, Cox’s Bazar Hasemia Kamil Madrasa, Cox’s Bazar Medical College and Cox’s Bazar International University.
This awareness debate competition was organized with the aim of keeping the young generation away from drug addiction and building a rational, conscious society.
At the end of the program, various educational materials were distributed as gifts among the students and debaters present on behalf of the Department of Narcotics Control, Cox’s Bazar District Office.
