Two drug peddlers arrested with 6 lakh 30 thousand pieces of Yaba and 10 kg of heroin in Cox’s Bazar
A huge quantity of narcotics has been recovered in a special operation of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-15 in the Uttar Nuniarachhara area under Sadar police station of Cox’s Bazar district. Two notorious drug peddlers have been arrested in the operation along with 6 lakh 30 thousand (six lakh thirty thousand) pieces of Yaba tablets and 10 (ten) kg of heroin.
RAB-15 sources said that as part of the implementation of the government’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy against drugs, a raid was conducted in the area on January 26, 2026, based on secret information.
During the operation, two people were caught red-handed while transporting a special consignment of narcotics. Md. Ismail (43), father-deceased Hossain Ahmed, Sang-Rashidpur, Post Office-8th Ward, Thana-Cox’s Bazar Sadar, District-Cox’s Bazar.
Nuruzzaman Islam (42), father-deceased Mabud Ahmed, Sang-Kathurkhali, Post Office-4th Ward, Thana-Ukhia, District-Cox’s Bazar. RAB said that the Cox’s Bazar coastal area has been used as an important route for drug trafficking for a long time.
These drugs, which came from neighboring countries, were being supplied to different parts of the country. Law enforcement agencies believe that the seized drugs are one of the largest consignments in the country’s history in recent times.
RAB also said that since the beginning of this year 2026, it has been possible to recover a large amount of Yaba through several successful anti-drug operations. Cases under the Narcotics Control Act are under process against the detainees and legal action is being taken.
The authorities concerned have said that such operations by RAB-15 will continue in the future to protect society and youth from the terrible clutches of drugs.
