Doa Mahfil held on the death anniversary of Arafat Rahman Koko in Gazipur
Arafat Rahman Koko, the youngest son of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, died of a heart attack while undergoing treatment in Malaysia on January 24, 2015. On the occasion of his death anniversary, a doa mahfil and memorial meeting was organized by the Gazipur District Arafat Rahman Koko Kriya Chakra.
The 11th death anniversary of Arafat Rahman Koko was presided over by Shamsuddin Raju, President of Gazipur District Arafat Rahman Koko Kriya Chakra, and moderated by General Secretary Tariqul Islam Ripon. Leaders, activists and supporters of different levels of the organization were present.
The speakers at the meeting said that Arafat Rahman Koko was a decent, humble and sports-loving organizer, who played an important role in the development of the country’s sports even outside politics. His ideals and motivation are exemplary for the new generation.
In his speech as president, Shamsuddin Raju said that in the current political context of the country, all leaders and activists must strengthen their organizational activities in unity to restore democracy and voting rights.
He called for an active role in the movement and struggle by following the party’s instructions, focusing on the upcoming national elections.
General Secretary Tariqul Islam Ripon said in his speech that the leaders and activists are given guidelines to maintain organizational discipline and be active at the field level to achieve a free, fair and impartial national election. He called for preparations to implement the party’s central program.
At the event, special prayers were offered, seeking forgiveness for the souls of the martyred freedom fighters of the great Liberation War of 1971 and the martyrs of the 2024 mass movement.
In addition, BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia was wished for good health and long life, and the soul of martyred President Ziaur Rahman was prayed for. Finally, the program ended with prayers and supplications for the soul of Arafat Rahman Koko.
