Comilla University (CoU) witnessed a unique and significant event as the Quran and Cultural Studies Club (QCSC) organized the university’s first-ever reception ceremony honoring Hafiz-e-Quran students. A total of 22 Hafiz students of the university were felicitated with crests and honorary shawls at the program.

The event was held on Saturday (January 24) at 10:00 am in the conference room of the Faculty of Science on the university campus.

The keynote speaker of the program was Abul Hashem Molla, Khatib of Gopibagh Railway Barrack Jame Mosque in Dhaka. Special guests included Comilla University Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Solaiman and Proctor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Hakim. Lecturer Khondokar Waliullah from the ICT Department and Lecturer Md. Bulbul Ahmed from the English Department were also present at the ceremony.

In his speech, chief speaker Abul Hashem Molla highlighted the dignity and honor of Hafiz-e-Quran, the importance of Quranic education in society, and the role of the Quran in shaping moral leadership. He emphasized that such initiatives at the university level play a vital role in enhancing students’ religious and cultural awareness.

Addressing the event as a special guest, Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Solaiman said that the identity of a Hafiz student should be reflected through their character, morality, and fear of Allah. He noted that memorizing the Quran is a great blessing, which must be manifested in one’s behavior and daily life.

President of the Quran and Cultural Studies Club, Rifat-ul Islam, stated that the primary objective of the program was not only to honor the Hafiz-e-Quran but also to strengthen Quran-based ethics and cultural practices among university students. He further added that Quran education activities are already ongoing in various residential halls and mosques of the university and will continue in the future.

The event was supported by international organization BDK, Edumex, and Comilla Ideal Madrasa.
