“After 25 Years, Tarique Rahman Returns to the Port City — A Defining Moment in Modern Politics”
Huge banners with pictures have been spread all over the Polo Ground in Chittagong. After 25 years, the lion of politics, Tarique Rahman, known as the idol of youth, is coming to the ground in Chittagong.
Party chairperson Tarique Rahman will join the BNP’s grand rally at the historic Polo Ground in Chittagong. The organizers have already completed all the preparations to make this rally a success.
A huge stage of 7 feet high has been built at the end of the field. Senior leaders from all over the country including Chittagong will be accommodated on this stage, which is 100 feet long and 60 feet wide.
BNP Party sources said that this grand rally is being organized at the initiative of Chittagong Metropolitan, North and South District BNP. A festive atmosphere was seen among the leaders and workers surrounding the arrival of party chief Tarique Rahman and the rally at the Polo Ground.
City BNP has also completed the preparatory meeting to make the rally a success. A sub-committee has also been formed.
Abu Sufian, the BNP-nominated MP candidate for Chittagong 9 constituency, said, “All preparations for the event have been completed. Tomorrow’s public meeting will turn into an ocean of people. The people of Chittagong are eagerly waiting to welcome Tarique Rahman. I believe that Tarique Rahman’s arrival tomorrow will create history.”
After visiting the meeting venue, Ershad Ullah, the BNP-nominated MP candidate for Chittagong 8 constituency, told Morning Glory, “The people of Chittagong want to make this arrival of Tarique Rahman memorable after a long 25 years.”
Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury, the BNP-nominated MP candidate for Chittagong 6 constituency, came to visit the meeting along with party leaders and activists. When asked about the preparations of Chittagong North district, he told Morning Glory, “About a lakh people will gather from the North district.”
A three-tier security has been formed by the CMP around the meeting venue. CCTV cameras have been installed where round-the-clock monitoring will be done by at least 60 CCTV cameras.
It is worth noting that the late Chairperson of BNP Khaleda Zia last addressed a public meeting at the Polo Ground in Chittagong city on January 9, 2012. After 14 years, her son and current chairman of the party, Tarique Rahman, will address the same ground. Tarique Rahman is coming to Chittagong after a long 20 years and 7 months. He previously came to Chittagong on May 6, 2005.
