Imam conference held in Gopalganj to promote referendum and motivate voters
A district-level Imam conference was held at the auditorium of the Gopalganj District Shilpakala Academy on Tuesday (January 20) at 12:30 pm.
The conference was organized by the Gopalganj District Administration and Islamic Foundation with the aim of ensuring the active participation of the people in the referendum with the participation of imams at various upazila levels of Gopalganj and creating widespread public awareness among the voters. At the beginning of the program, the honored guests took their seats.
Later, the Muazzin of Sadar Upazila Model Mosque Maulana Imran Hossain and Imam of Masterpara Baitun Noor Jame Mosque Maulana Md. Saiful Islam recited from the Holy Quran with Bangla translation.
Then, Abu Obaida Mohammad Mas-u-dul Haque, Deputy Director of Gopalganj Islamic Foundation, delivered a welcome speech at the special conference on the referendum. The program was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Md. Arif-uz- Zaman.
Gopalganj District Police Superintendent Md. Habibullah, Deputy Director of Gopalganj Local Government Department Md. Ashraful Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) SM Tarek Sultan, District Election Officer Md. Aliul Islam spoke as special guests at the program.
Imam and Khatib Hafez Maulana Waliullah of Gopalganj District Model Mosque spoke on behalf of the khatibs and imams. About eight hundred imams and scholars of the district participated in the conference, which was moderated by Gopalganj District Cultural Officer Farhan Kabir Sifat.
At that time, Gopalganj District Imam Training Academy Deputy Director Ariful Islam, District Information Officer Md. Sulaiman, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Md. Ataur Rahman, Gopalganj SK Alia Madrasa Principal Dr. Abu Sayeed Md. Abdullah, Court Jame Mosque and Madrasa Muhtamim Mufti Hafizur Rahman, Gopalganj District Imam Association President Abdullah Al Mamun and media personnel working in various electronic and print media in the district were present.
The invited guests at the event emphasized the spontaneous participation of voters in the referendum and the positive role of religious leaders in this regard.
The president of the event, Deputy Commissioner Md. Arif-uz- Zaman, said that the referendum is an important democratic process, where the awareness and spontaneous participation of the people play an important role in determining the future of the state and society.
He mentioned that imams and religious leaders can play an effective role in spreading the positive message of the referendum as a symbol of trust and morality in the society. At the end of the program, Imam and Khatib of the Model Mosque, Hazrat Maulana Hafez Mufti Waliullah, led the prayers and supplications.
