Vote ‘yes’ to remove injustice, discrimination: Asif Nazrul
Advisor of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Professor Asif Nazrul has urged people to vote for ‘Yes’ in the upcoming parliamentary elections. He said that this is an important chapter in the country’s democratic journey. The main goal of this initiative is to ensure transparency and accountability in the governance of the state through direct participation of the people.
He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting organized by the Bogura District Administration on Monday at the Bogura District Council Auditorium to ensure a peaceful and participatory environment in the parliamentary elections and to increase awareness among voters about the referendum.
Law Adviser Asif Nazrul said, We are trying to organize an extraordinary election. This is the first time that the parliamentary elections and the referendum are going to be held together. This is not just an election, it is a historic opportunity to express the opinion of the people.
He further said that no election is meaningful without the active participation of voters. Therefore, he urged everyone to go to the polling station without any hindrance and exercise their right to vote.
Referring to the July Uprising, Asif Nazrul said, The July Uprising is a historic event in the history of the country. Through this movement, the people have realized their rights and the power to express their opinions in a new way. In that vein, the referendum is an important democratic exercise.
He said that the government’s goal is to provide an acceptable election in a fear-free environment, with the participation of all. The exchange of views was chaired by Bogura Deputy Commissioner and District Returning Officer Taufiqur Rahman.
In his speech as the chairman, he said that the district administration has made all-out preparations to ensure a peaceful, neutral and participatory election in Bogura district. Various activities are underway to make voters aware.
The meeting was also attended by the Additional District Commissioner, senior police officers, representatives of various government departments, political party leaders, civil society representatives, and media personnel.
