One RAB member shot dead, three RAB members held hostage in remote mountains.

The incident took place in the Chinnamul area of ​​​​Jungle Salimpur around 6 pm on Monday (January 19).

After shooting dead RAB officer Motaleb in the ‘forbidden city’ of Jungle Salimpur in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong, the terrorists captured three RAB members including a source and took them to remote mountains. Later, the police went and rescued the hostages. Four more RAB members were injured in the incident. A joint force formed by the army, police and RAB is conducting a raid on the spot at night.

It is learned that a team of RAB-7 entered the Chinnamul residential area of ​​​​Jungle Salimpur in Sitakunda upazila to conduct a raid. But just before entering, the RAB members’ vehicle was attacked by organized terrorists. Many of them had weapons in their hands. Many also attacked the RAB vehicle with bricks, stones and sticks. At one stage, the terrorists surrounded the RAB members and started firing. Abdul Motaleb, Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) of RAB-7, was shot. Later, the doctors on duty who took him to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) declared him dead.

It is known that four more RAB members injured in the incident were admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for treatment.

Meanwhile, during the incident, the terrorists captured three RAB members and a source and took them to the mountains. Later, the police went and rescued them.

Chittagong District Police Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Md. Sirajul Islam PPM Service confirmed the matter and said, “When RAB members went on a raid, there was a clash with terrorists.” The injured members and sources have been rescued, but one RAB member has died.’

ASP Md. Sirajul Islam further said, ‘We reached the spot immediately after the incident. We have learned that the deceased RAB member’s name is DAD Motaleb.’

Sitakund Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mohinul Islam said, ‘We reached the spot quickly after receiving the news of the attack. Additional forces are conducting the operation.’

Earlier, police members including the Executive Magistrate working in the Chittagong District Administration were attacked while conducting an operation in Jungle Salimpur.

The last time, journalists were beaten while collecting information about a fight between two groups in Jungle Salimpur, no effective action was taken.
