Awami League leader resigns in Tungipara in deference to law and constitution
A leader of Tungipara Municipal Awami League has announced his resignation from the party post in deference to the state decision.
He took this decision in the context of the state ban on the activities of Bangladesh Awami League. The resigning leader is Md. Tuhibbul Islam. He was serving as the general secretary of the Tungipara Municipal branch of the Awami Matsyajeebi League.
He officially announced his resignation by reading a written statement at a press conference organized at the Tungipara Upazila Press Club at 12 noon on Monday (January 19, 2026).
In his speech, he said that it is the responsibility of a conscious citizen to respect the prevailing laws, constitution and state decisions of the country. It is out of that responsibility that he has decided to voluntarily step down from the party post.
He also said that in the future too, he will live his life with respect for the law and state order. Media personnel working in various print and electronic media were present at the press conference.
