Craftsman arrested with weapons, bullets in Eidgarh

The Eidgarh area of ​​Cox’s Bazar district has long been known as an illegal firearms manufacturing factory.

For years, the terrorist gang here has been manufacturing various types of weapons through its own craftsmen and supplying them to underground criminals and terrorists. Such information was also in the eye of the law enforcement agencies.

In continuation of this, Ramu Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monirul Islam Bhuiyan intensified intelligence surveillance on the movements of arms craftsman Kalu Chowkidar.

At one stage, under the leadership of OC Monirul Islam Bhuiyan, a joint operation of Ramu Police Station and Eidgarh Police Camp was conducted at the residence of Nur Mohammad alias Kalu Chowkidar in Panisyaghona area of ​​Eidgarh Union at approximately 11:40 pm on January 17.

During the raid, 10 rounds of Chinese rifle bullets, 2 rounds of shotgun cartridges and 3 empty shells were recovered from inside the house hidden in a sack of rice. OC Monirul Islam Bhuiyan said that the arrested accused Noor Mohammad alias Kalu Chowkidar has confessed to keeping the weapons and ammunition in his custody for the purpose of selling them. According to the police, Kalu Chowkidar is a skilled firearms maker and professional arms dealer.

There are a total of five cases against him, including weapons, robbery and extortion. The arrested Noor Mohammad (36) is the son of Shahar Ali. He is a resident of Panisyaghona area of ​​Ward No. 7 of Eidgarh Union. Police said that a case under the relevant law is under process in this incident.

Meanwhile, in another raid by Ramu Police Station, two drug dealers were arrested along with a large quantity of Yaba tablets.

Police said that on the morning of January 18, 2026, the operation was conducted under the direction of Cox’s Bazar Superintendent of Police A.N.M. Sajedur Rahman and under the supervision of Ramu Police Station OC Monirul Islam Bhuiyan under the leadership of SI Joynal Abedin.

At around 7 am, a search was conducted at the house of Abdul Monaf in Dheshua Palang Jhumkata village of Ward No. 4 of Khuniapalang Union under Ramu Police Station and 1700 pieces of Yaba tablets and 20 thousand 5 hundred taka in cash obtained from drug sales were recovered from the custody of accused Rafiqul Islam (26) and Abdul Shukkur (32). The two arrested accused are the children of Abdul Monaf and Selina Akhtar.

Initial investigation revealed that they had been involved in the illegal Yaba business under the guise of various professions for a long time. The process of filing a case under the Narcotics Control Act is also underway in this incident. Police said the ongoing campaign against weapons and drugs will be further strengthened.
