100% neutral and peaceful elections will be ensured in Gopalganj: Returning Officer Md. Arif-uz-Zaman

The Gopalganj district administration has already taken all kinds of administrative preparations to conduct the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum-2026 in a festive atmosphere with 100% neutrality, said District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner (Deputy Secretary) Md. Arif-uz-Zaman.

He said, “The administration will play a completely neutral role in organizing neutral elections in Gopalganj.

Which you all have already noticed in the verification of election candidacies. No opportunity will be given to anyone to spoil the electoral environment.

If anyone tries to sabotage the elections or create chaos, strict legal action will be taken against him.”

He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a view-sharing meeting held at the Upazila Parishad hall on the occasion of the Thirteenth National Parliament Election and Referendum-2026 organized by the Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Administration on Thursday (January 15).

After giving a welcome speech on the parliamentary elections and referendum, in response to various questions from the general voters, teachers, students and activists who attended the view-sharing meeting during the open discussion phase, the Returning Officer further said that maximum coordination will be ensured between the law enforcement agencies and the administration so that voters can exercise their voting rights in a safe and secure environment on the election day and express their desired opinions through the referendum.

The meeting, chaired by Assistant Returning Officer and Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Kaushik Ahmed, was addressed as special guests by Gopalganj District Police Superintendent Md. Habibullah, Gopalganj District Army Camp Major Juvin Wahid, Gopalganj District Election Officer Md. Oliul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station Md. Anisur Rahman, Upazila Election Officer Animesh Kumar Basu.

Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Cooperative Officer Md. Enamul Haque Talukder moderated the meeting.
The meeting was attended by officials of various government, private and autonomous departments of the upazila, local public representatives, general voters, teachers and students of various educational institutions and media workers working in various electronic and print media in the district.

It is worth mentioning that earlier, on the occasion of the Thirteenth National Parliament Election and Referendum-2026, in three constituencies of Gopalganj district, 215 Gopalganj-1 (consisting of 7 unions of Muksudpur Upazila and Kashiani Upazila), 216 Gopalganj-2 (consisting of 7 unions of Gopalganj Sadar Upazila and Kashiani Upazila), 217 Gopalganj-3 (consisting of Tungipara Upazila and Kotalipara Upazila), District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Md. Arif-uz-Zaman, District Superintendent of Police Md. Habibullah, Temporary Army Camp Commander of Gopalganj District (19th Bengal) Lt. Col. ZM Mabrukul Islam, PSC, District Election Officer Md. Oliul Islam and other election-related personnel visited various polling stations in the district on the spot.
