BGB’s strict surveillance to ensure border security and upcoming elections are smooth

Border Guard Bangladesh BGB has announced strict security measures in view of border security, smuggling and drug suppression, and the upcoming national parliamentary elections. On this occasion, BGB Northeast Region held a press briefing with journalists in Sreemangal.

Border Guard Bangladesh BGB is working tirelessly to secure Bangladesh’s border, suppress smuggling and drug trafficking, and maintain law and order. A press briefing was held on Wednesday under the management of Sreemangal Battalion 46 BGB to highlight these activities to the public.

Since November 1, 2025, 72 suspects have been raided in the border area, and smuggled goods worth about Tk 164 crore and narcotics worth Tk 5.5 crore have been seized. Foreign firearms and explosives have also been recovered.”

The press briefing said that 13 units under four sectors are continuously performing their duties in the approximately 1,204-kilometer border area of ​​the Northeast Region. “The BGB is ready to make the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections free, fair and impartial.

Our members will be responsible for maintaining law and order in 92 parliamentary constituencies in 17 districts.” The BGB has decided to increase patrols and intelligence surveillance in the run-up to the elections, as well as use drones and body-worn cameras.

Reconnaissance activities at polling stations are also underway. Work will be coordinated with the district administration, army and other law enforcement agencies to avoid any untoward incident during the election period.” The BGB will continue to maintain strict vigilance to ensure overall security during the upcoming elections and the border.

The press briefing was attended by Lieutenant Colonel Sarkar Asif Mahmud, Commander of the Sreemangal Battalion (46 BGB), other officers and members of the BGB, and journalists from various print and electronic media of Moulvibazar district.
