Orientation meeting on reproductive health services held in Jamalpur
A day-long orientation was held in Jamalpur on gender-based violence prevention, child protection and reproductive health services.
The orientation held at the office of the Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer on Tuesday, January 13 was presided over by Jahangir Selim, Director of Human Resource Development of Unnayan Sangha.
Dr. Swagat Saha, Director of Health and Family Planning of Jamalpur Sadar Upazila, delivered the keynote address.
The orientation, organized by the Jamalpur Area Program implemented by World Vision and Unnayan Sangha, featured speeches by Medical Officer Sanjida Hossain Prabati, Dr. Rafia Sultana, among others.
The program was moderated by Minara Parveen, Area Program Manager of Unnayan Sangha Jamalpur.
The orientation was attended by 60 representatives from various classes and professions, including public representatives, health inspectors, health assistants, village development committee members, mosque imams, and others from 15 unions of Jamalpur Municipality and Sadar Upazila.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Swagat Saha said that if gender-based violence can be stopped and reproductive health awareness is created, peace and stability will be created in the society along with the protection of women and children.
He thanked the Unnayan Sangha and World Vision for expanding the activities of the Jamalpur Area Program to 15 unions. This will play a role in improving the government’s healthcare services.
In the orientation, various topics including gender, gender and sex differences, gender-based violence, causes of violence, types and consequences of gender-based violence, institutions working on GBV, what the police and related institutions can do under various laws to protect GBV, reproductive health of adolescents, child marriage, reproductive system and infections and sexually transmitted diseases in the reproductive system and what to do in case of sexually transmitted diseases, physical and mental changes during puberty and adolescence, risks of adolescence, what to do to prevent risks. Adolescent nutrition, child protection and community actions, reporting, referral system, Five Zero Plus, Enough Campaign and corruption are discussed analytically.
