Fishermen’s awareness meeting held in Louhajang on referendum and special combing operation
On the occasion of the National Assembly Election 2026, an awareness meeting was held on referendum awareness and special combing operation 2026 conducted in the river.
The meeting was held at Mawa Arat on Tuesday with the participation of about 50 fishermen from Medini Mandal and Kumarbhog Unions of Louhajang Upazila. The awareness meeting started from 11 am and lasted till 1 pm.
District Fisheries Officer Mr. Md. Golam Mehedi Hasan was present as the chief guest in the meeting. The program was moderated by Mr. Md. Rezaul Islam, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer of Louhajang Upazila. Other officers and employees of the Fisheries Department were also present in the meeting.
The meeting called for refraining from using illegal fishing nets and informed fishermen in detail about the harmful effects of using illegal nets. The speakers said that stopping the use of illegal nets is very important to protect the biodiversity of the river and ensure sustainable fish resources.
At the same time, fishermen were urged to be aware of the referendum on the occasion of the upcoming National Parliament Election 2026. At the end of the meeting, the fishermen promised to be aware of not using illegal nets.
