It has been alleged that a police officer threatened Faruk Hossain Zakir, the planner of the murder of Zahirul Sikder of Uttar Taktabunia village in Amtali upazila, not to indict him.

On Monday afternoon, the locals formed a human chain and protested demanding that Faruk Hossain Zakir be indicted and the OC (Investigation) be punished. There is anger among the people of the area over such behavior of the OC.

It is reported that Farid Sikder of Uttar Taktabunia village in the upazila has been in a dispute with his brother Munsur Sikder over 10 percent of his land.

Last Saturday around 11 am, Farid Sikder went to cultivate the land. Upon hearing the news, Munsur Sikder grabbed a knife and chased him. His cousin Zahirul Sikder rushed to his rescue. At that time, he tried to stop the killer Munsur Sikder. At one point, the killer Munsur stabbed him in the stomach. He died. It is alleged that the main planner of the incident is Munsur Sikder’s son Faruk Hossain Zakir.

It was on his plan that Munsur Sikder stabbed Zahirul Sikder to death on Saturday, Nupur Begum, whose father Munsur Sikder had stabbed Zahirul Sikder to death on Saturday.

Nupur Begum, the wife of the deceased Zahirul Sikder, went to Amtoli Police Station to file a case on Saturday afternoon in this incident.

At that time, Amtoli Police Station OC (Investigation) Saidur Rahman forbade Nupur Begum, the wife of the deceased, to accuse the main planner of the incident, Faruk Hossain Zakir. Nupur Begum alleged that he behaved disrespectfully with her because Nupur did not agree to this. Faruk Hossain Zakir is absconding immediately after the incident.

Locals formed a human chain on Monday afternoon demanding that Zakir Hossain Faruk, the mastermind of the murder, be charged and the OC (investigation) be punished for his bad behavior.

Habiba, Poppy Begum, Nurunnahar, Ambia Begum, Amirul Khan and Mustafa Gazi, among others, spoke at the human chain.

It has been learned that the police arrested the killer Munsur Sikder and his wife Shefali Begum and handed them over to the Amtoli Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Sunday afternoon. Court judge Md. Ifti Hasan Imran ordered them to be sent to jail. The police have filed a murder case against only two people without making Zakir Hossain Faruk, the mastermind of the incident, an accused.

The plaintiff in the case, Nupur Begum, alleged that I wanted to make Zakir Hossain Faruk, the mastermind of the incident, an accused, but OC (Investigation) Saidur Rahman filed a murder case against two people without making him an accused.

She also said that the OC (Investigation) did not want to let me file a case. He offered me five lakh taka to not indict Zakir Hossain Faruk. When I did not agree to it, he behaved disrespectfully with me.

I have demanded that Farouk Hossain Zakir, the mastermind of the murder, be made an accused and that the OC investigate and punish him.

Amtali Police Station OC (Investigation) Md. Saidul Islam denied all the allegations and said that if the investigation proves more guilty, he will also be made an accused.

Barguna Police Superintendent Md Kudrat-E-Khuda said that necessary action will be taken after investigating the matter.
